Established on July 22, 1964, Rural Bank of Guinobatan, Inc. (RBGI) has been taking the lead in local banking on Albay and Sorsogon City. RBGI has proven its capability to meet its client’s financial needs.
Year 2000 is a milestone, when RBGI started upgrading its capabilities to a computerized system. These innovations continue to this day when new bank operating systems were put into place.
In line with this, a new Bank logo has replaced the original, along with the inauguration of the newly built Corporate Center last November 5, 2009. This marked the shift from the first generation banking to the new management systems being put into place. This transition is symbolized by the turning of the pages, in colors green and blue, set against the original silhouette of Mt. Mayon, representing the long term stability.
The new Rural Bank of Guinobatan, Inc. is now functioning as a full structured, professionally managed Bank, with service-oriented team of personnel.

RURAL BANK OF GUINOBATAN, INC. (RBGI) was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 25, 1964 with an initial authorized capital stock of P400,000.00. On July 22, 1964, Rural Bank of Guinbatan, Inc. has been granted by the Central Bank of the Philippines (now Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) to operate as a Rural Bank and formally open its banking door to the public and has been taking the lead in local banking in the Province of Albay and Sorsogon. RBGI has proven its capability to meet its clients’ financial needs.
RURAL BANK OF GUINOBATAN, INC. was organized with the goal of becoming the most trusted financial institution in the local rural banking industrywhere it continues to strive for a well-balanced, objective and equitable development of the loyal and delighted clients developed and improved human capital. After 33 years of operation, the bank began to expand its banking operations. Tiwi branch was launched last July 22, 1997

RBGI had another milestone by opening its microfinance department which caters micro-entrepreneurs using the Grameen methodology. On November 2003, the board of directors approved the implementation of individual microfinance using the MABS approach. All these programs are geared towards the bank’s vision of being the government partner in countryside development.
Seventeen (17) years after RBGI started its microfinance program the bank is now serving more than 11,000 microfinance clientswhich is serviced by the Bank’s 5 Branches and 5 Branch Lite Units.
The Bank has weathered the financial storm that hit the industry amid global financial crisis and the local problem which plagued the rural banking industry. Amidst all these, Rural Bank of Guinobatan, Inc. was resilient and will continue to grow big and strong in the years to come.
